Throughout the last century Washington University School of Medicine has maintained a long tradition of providing the highest caliber training to internists in the early stages of their careers either as research oriented physician-scientists, clinical oriented researchers or practicing internists. Using the latest medical research and advancements in medicine, our goal is to prepare young doctors to be leaders in both the national and international community.

The house staff are our greatest asset. They are highly-qualified, accomplished, motivated, and diverse individuals. Each brings to the program unique abilities and experiences and helps to make Washington University School of Medicine a wonderful place to train. We are fortunate to have individuals from all over the United States representing the nation’s finest medical schools. Prior achievements of our interns and resident include Master’s and PhD work in the arts and sciences, degrees in engineering, publication in leading medical journals, public health degrees, extensive business experience, success in the performing arts, world-class athletes, and humanitarian work. In such a dynamic environment, all of our house officers thrive.


The house staff support each other to a tremendous degree academically, emotionally, and socially. They display a remarkable solidarity of purpose and you will surely learn a tremendous amount from your peers!
