Welcome to the website for the Division of Medical Education of the Department of Medicine at Washington University in St. Louis. The Division was established to oversee the Internal Medicine Residency in our Department as well as the training of medical students in internal medicine. Our decision to establish and maintain a Division of Medical Education along with Divisions in the subspecialties of Internal Medicine, underscores our commitment to education as a core mission of the Department. We have a long tradition of providing training of the highest caliber to internists in the early stages of their careers either as research oriented physician-scientists or more clinically oriented clinical researchers or practicing internists. The strength of our training program is in significant measure due to the balance between research, clinical care and teaching that we strive to achieve. The quality of the medical students at Washington University and the exceptional standard of the members of our house staff ensure a challenging and exciting peer group for our interns and residents. We take our responsibilities in teaching the house staff very seriously and find these activities to be both enjoyable and challenging.
