How to Apply


All internship applications are to be submitted through ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service).


A Complete Application for Residency must include:

Universal Application (ERAS Comm Application Form)

Curriculum Vitae (ERAS generated)

Medical School Transcript

Dean's Letter of Recommendation (MSPE)

At Least Three (3) Letters of Recommendation including the Department of Medicine Chair's Letter of Support

USMLE Results (No limit on number of attempts; Step 1 needed to apply, Step 2 to start)

Personal Statement


Additional Requirements for Foreign Medical Graduates Includes:

Graduation from medical school within the past five years

Six months of clinical experience in the United States (does not include observerships)

Current ECFMG certification

USMLE Step 1 & 2 CK Score

We support J-1 visas only

Your Interview Day

Invitations to interview will be sent to you via e-mail, and available interview dates will be specified at that time. Sample Interview Day Itinterary for Categorical Applicants

  • 7:30 AM- Sign-in; Receive name badge, itinerary, parking; Drop off coats and luggage
  • 7:45 AM- Escorted to Breakfast
  • 8:00 AM- Breakfast and Presentations
  • 9:00 AM- Escorted to Faculty Interview
  • 9:15 AM- Faculty Interview or Tour of Facilities
  • 10:00 AM- Q & A Session with Dr. Melvin Blanchard, Program Director
  • 11:00 AM- Lunch with Residents
  • 12:15 PM- Clinical Pathological Conference (CPC)
  • 1:20 PM- Faculty Interview or Tour of Facilities
  • 2:00 PM- Resident Report
  • 2:45 PM- Pizza Rounds
    • You are welcome to stay for Pizza Rounds with residents and faculty or, based on your travel plans, leave at this time.


Do I have a place to store my luggage?

Yes, we provide an area to store your luggage and coats.


How long is the interview day?

The interview day for categorical applicants will begin at 7:30 am and typically ends around 4:00 pm.


The interview day for preliminary applicants will begin at 9:15 am and typically ends around 2:00 pm.


Will I know with whom I am interviewing?

You will receive a detailed itinerary for your interviews when you arrive. We will do our best to accommodate special requests for faculty you would like to meet with during your interview day. Please be sure to indicate this when submitting your interview date preferences.


When are applicant dinners held?

Dinners are held on Thursday evenings at 6:00 PM at Bar Italia, located just a few blocks from the Medical Center campus in the Central West End. Transportation is provided from the medical center meeting point.
